CalWARN Semi Annual Meeting
The California Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network is working closely
with one of its partner associations, the American Water Works Association
(AWWA), to conduct joint meetings with the association and the state of
Nevada. At the Semi-Annual AWWA, California Nevada Section, in Las Vegas,
NV the CalWARN and NvWARN Steering Committees will co-sponsor a joint
meeting during the CalNeva AWWA Section Conference. You DO NOT have to be
an AWWA member to attend. No fees will be charged. We encourage all
CalWARN members to attend.

The CalWARN Membership is asked to vote on Section 1 of the
CalWARN
Operational Plan as it has to do with Governance. Please take the
time to review Section 1 and
vote.
CalWARN State Steering Committee
The CalWARN State Steering Committee
meets monthly via phone conference on the third Wed of each month. Contact
your Regional Chair to learn more about what is discussed and to volunteer
to assist on the various subcommittees. Notes from the last meeting are

Golden Guardian Exercise
The CalWARN Operational Plan provided here in PDF format will be tested on November 13-14,
2008 as part of the State of California Golden Guardian Exercise.
The forms listed in the attachments to the Operational Plan are available in MS Word format here for use by CalWARN members as needed.
California Governor Schwarzenegger Issues
Drought Executive Order S-06-08
Following two straight years of below-average rainfall, very low
snowmelt runoff and the largest court-ordered water transfer
restrictions in state history, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today
proclaimed a statewide drought and issued an Executive Order, which
takes immediate action to address a dire situation where numerous
California communities are being forced to mandate water conservation or
rationing. Mutual Aid is identified as one of the many aspects of
response to this need.

National WARN Chair Meeting
On January 17-18, 2008 representatives
from 47 of the 50 WARNs met to share experiences and support the development
of a national WARN effort. The following presentations and materials were
